Disability Data Measures Project – ABS

The project responds to recommendation 12.5 of the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability is aimed to identify and recommend a consistent method for collecting disability data in population surveys across Australia.

NDIS After Hours Crisis Referral Service

The NDIS After Hours Crisis Referral Service (AHCRS) is delivered by Marathon Health in partnership with the NDIA. The AHCRS is a national after-hours service that provides immediate support to NDIS participants experiencing a crisis due to the sudden loss of disability-related supports

Remote Service Delivery Framework

The NDIS has worked with remote communities to develop the Remote Service Delivery Framework, making it easier for people in remote communities to get the help they need. It has a focus on working more with communities, not just individuals, role clarity, culturally safe, and support to connect with local services.

Tougher penalties for bad actors under new NDIS Bill

A Bill to Parliament has been introduced that would give greater powers to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. If passed, the changes aim to improve the quality of care and the safety of every Australian who receives support from the NDIS. The proposed reforms are designed to protect NDIS participants from abuse, neglect, exploitation and fraud, and to ensure the Scheme is sustainable.

A new way of NDIS planning coming mid-2026

The new framework planning aims to improve NDIS planning to make it fairer and easier and will start rolling out in mid-2026. It will take about 5 years to reach everyone. The new way of planning will use a support needs assessment to help set a participant’s budget, which is a guided conversation about a participant’s life, goals, and support needs.

NDIS Annual Pricing Review 2025-2026

NDIS participants, providers and the wider disability community have been invited to have their say on NDIS pricing, as part of consultation for the 2025-26 Annual Pricing Review. Feedback is open until 11.59pm AEST on 8 February 2026.

The inaugral podcast for NDIS workers is about a term used a lot ‘person- centred support’. Sara from DSC talks to people with disability about how NDIS workers can deliver truly individualised support.

Yarning NDIS in Coen

The team spent time yarning with community members to build understanding about the NDIS—what it is, how to access it, and how supports can be strengthened locally.

During the visit, community members shared their experiences, the challenges they face, and what extra help would make a real difference. There were also some great chats about new opportunities for individuals and the wider community to engage with the NDIS and grow local capacity.

Improving the help-seeker experience: Unpacking the Digital Navigation report findings into the mental health system

The mental health system in Australia is unsustainable and is not meeting the needs of all help seekers. From June 2024 – April 2025, The Department of Health and Aged Care funded SANE to lead a sector-wide investigation into the key reasons driving this issue.

Thriving Kids Initiative

Thriving Kids will focus on identifying developmental concerns earlier and establishing a national system of supports for children aged 8 and under with mild to moderate developmental delay and autism, and their families. Children with permanent and significant disability will continue to be supported through the NDIS. The program will be delivered by scaling and building on existing mainstream and community services that can better support families and children in settings they already are connected to.
